EPM Implementation Building Blocks

Where to start with a new EPM implementation journey? How to make sure it is successful?

Here are a few design components (building blocks) you must consider in the initial project phase. These building blocks may be relevant to pretty much any technology behind the EPM solution you want to implement, either SAC Planning, SAP BPC, or another one.

EPM Building blocks

Start with a planning process flow diagram. This is where you outline business planning teams, input forms and reports they use, sequence of planning steps, approval cycles, etc. The process may include “As Is” and “To Be” scenarios, assuming that the newly implemented EPM solution triggers changes to the existing business processes.

Make sure you clarify each design component with an EPM solution architect prior to starting any development. This will save you time and effort, set initial scope, and help you design a solution tailored to your business planning needs.
